Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the most important and oldest temples of the region, which is the spiritual and architectural heart of Solec on the Vistula. The first mention of the parish comes from 1363, and the current church was built in the 15th century from the foundation of King Kazimierz Jagiellończyk. This ruler wanted to make Solec an important religious center, which resulted in the construction of a Gothic brick temple, distinguished by massive walls and soaring, ogival windows.

The rich baroque interior of the church impresses both pilgrims and tourists. The main altar has an impressive picture showing the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, considered one of the most valuable sacred works in the Radom region. The whole is complemented by numerous polychrome, carved details and artful decorations that testify to the care of the beauty of the liturgical space.

Over the centuries, the temple has been rebuilt several times. In the 17th century, side chapels were added, introducing elements of baroque and late Gothic. Despite the war damage, the Church has retained its majestic character and to this day it is not only a place of worship, but also an important point on the cultural map of the region.

located in a picturesque Vistula landscape, the church is today the center of religious and community life of the inhabitants of Solec on the Vistula. For centuries, he has been accompanying them in the most important moments of life, being also a witness to the history and guardian of the spiritual heritage of this land.
