Museum Jan Kochanowski in Czarnolesie

Jan Kochanowski Museum in Czarnoles is a unique place on the map of Mazovia, dedicated to one of the most outstanding poets of the Polish Renaissance. Located in the nineteenth-century Classicist court of Jabłonowski, the museum was opened in 1961 and functioned for many years as a branch of the District Museum in Radom. Since 2020, it has been operating as an independent institution.

The museum exhibition includes souvenirs related to the life and work of Jan Kochanowski, including manuscripts, old prints and everyday objects. Particular attention is attracted by the iron door with the Korwin coat of arms, from the now defunct Kochanowski court.

The museum surrounds the picturesque park, in which there is a neo -Gothic chapel from 1830 and an obelisk commemorating the famous linden under which the poet created his works. Before entering the court stands a monument to Jan Kochanowski by Mieczysław Welter.

A variety of forms of activity, such as museum lessons, workshops and cultural events, are available to visitors. The museum also offers the possibility of organizing photo sessions and renting space for the needs of outdoor events.
