A monument in honor of the victims of Oświęcim
In the center Garbatki-Noletnisko there is a moving monument commemorating one of the greatest tragedies that affected the inhabitants of the village during World War II . This monument is dedicated to the victims of mass arrests made by the Germans July 12, 1942 .
The background of events h3>
during the Garbatka-Lotnisko war, located at an important railway node serving the Eastern Front, was a place of great strategic meaning. Strong guerrilla troops operated in the surrounding forests , which made the town in the crosshairs of German repression.
July 12, 1942 Over 2,000 German soldiers surrounded the village . Brutal arrests began. nearly 800 inhabitants - men, women and youth - were driven to Tartak Square at the railway station. There they were told to lie to the ground, where they were beaten and humiliated. Then they were packed into the wagons and taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp .

in tribute to those who died and all the victims Garbatka-Letnisko, in 1969 Society raised a souvenir obelisk . In the 2012, the monument was restored .
The granite plaque appears on the moving inscription:
