Monument to Leszek Kołakowski

The monument of Leszek Kołakowski is located in the eastern part of the Plac Konstytucji 3 Maja, right next to the promenade ul. Żeromski - one of the most frequented places in Radom. Sculpture, design of the Krakow artist prof. Karol Badyna, presents a philosopher sitting at a cafe table with a hat and a cane, in a gesture inviting to talk; Next to it is an empty chair on which visitors can sit.

The monument was unveiled on October 23, 2016 - on the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the Radom philosopher, winner of the "Bene Merenti" medal and honorary citizen of Radom. The initiative of the creation of the monument was submitted as part of the Municipal Participatory Budget, however, the final financing was provided by the municipality after choosing the Badyna project from among eight reported works.

The monument meets with an enthusiastic reception - residents and tourists often stop here for a photo or a symbolic "meeting" with a thinker. The monument is also part of the trail in the footsteps of Kołakowski in Radom, along with a commemorative plaque on his house at ul. Niedziałkowskiego 26 and the Professor's office made available at the Museum Jacek Malczewski
