Museum Oskar Kolberg in Przysucha

Museum Oskar Kolberg in Przysucha is a unique institution dedicated to the life and work of one of the greatest Polish ethnographers, folkloreists and composers of the 19th century. It is located in the historic Dambin court from the second half of the 19th century, surrounded by a picturesque park designed by Teodor Chrząński in 1900.

The exhibition and activity of the museum

The core of the exhibition is the biographical exhibition "Oskar Kolberg (1814–1890). Ethnographer, folklore, composer, and Kolberg's scientific achievements, his relationship with Przysucha, editorial activity and musical creativity. In the museum you can see, among others Primary of the volumes of the "people" and "ethnographic paintings", manuscripts, correspondence and stylized interiors of the study and the scholar's salon

The museum also performs a regional function, documenting the history of Przysucha and the surrounding area from the 18th to the 20th century. The collection includes maps, plans, photographs and documents related to the Dembinski family and city development.

Educational and cultural activities

The institution conducts extensive educational activities, organizing museum lessons, workshops and cultural events. Since 2002, the Museum has been the organizer of the National Award of Oskar Kolberg "For merits for folk culture", awarded to people and institutions distinguished for the preservation and promotion of folk culture.
