Museum Jacek Malczewski in Radom
Museum Jacek Malczewski in Radom is the largest museum facility in southern Mazovia, founded in 1923. It is located in the historic building of the former Piarist College at Market 11 in Radom. The museum gathers rich collections in the field of old and contemporary painting, unprofessional art, history, literature, archeology and nature.
One of the most valuable resources of the museum is the fourth largest collection of works by Jacek Malczewski, an outstanding representative of symbolism in Polish painting. In addition, the collection includes works of such artists as Olga Boznańska, Stanisław Wyspiański, Józef Mehoffer and Leon Wyczółkowski.
The museum has eight substantive departments, including the former art department, history department, archeology department, nature department and unprofessional art department and folk culture. He also runs two departments: the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Jan Kochanowski Museum in Czarnoles.
Permanent exhibitions include, among others Gallery of Polish paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries, natural exhibitions and exhibitions devoted to the history of Radom. The museum also regularly organizes temporary exhibitions, educational workshops and cultural events such as museum night or archaeological picnics.
