Painting Laboratory of Władysław Malecki
Painting Laboratory of Władysław Malecki
Władysław Malecki's painting workshop in Szydłowiec is a unique place that is transferred by visitors to the times of life and work of one of the most outstanding Polish landscapes of the 19th century. Located on the penultimate floor of the Szydłowiec Town Hall, the studio was recreated in 2021, commemorating the last years of the artist who lived and created in this place.
Władysław Aleksander Malecki (1836–1900) was a representative of the Munich school, known for realistic landscapes. After returning from abroad, where he gained recognition, he settled in Szydłowiec, where in 1898 he received a room from the mayor in the town hall, which he adapted to his studio. This is where his last works were created, and the artist died in 1900.
Visiting the studio, you can see the reconstructed interior from the era, including painting utensils, letters and reproductions of its most important paintings, such as the "stork Sejm". The exhibition allows you to feel the atmosphere in which he created Malecki and understand his contribution to Polish landscape painting.
